Cora Weiss (b.2000) is a multi-disciplinary artist exploring image production and compilation, and their use for atmosphere construction in paint, print and photography. Awarded the MFA with Distinction from the Glasgow School of Art (2022-24), they also hold a BA in Fine Art (First Class) from Newcastle University (2018-2022). Most recent shows in Glasgow include Dub Ft. at Salt Space Gallery, Chaos Reigns at David Dale Gallery Warehouse and Swatched x Blush at the Pipe Factory. They have also exhibited internationally in HFBK x GSA at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg (2023). They are currently Studio Co-ordinator for Strange Field, Glasgow.

Inspired by her music playlists, Weiss compiles, orders and recontextualises references from multiple digital sources such as anime, social media, YouTube, archival photographs and prints of historic architecture. This curated compilation creates melodic lines with rhythmic ‘image-beats’, challenging our growing insensitivities to reading images. In creative dialogue with Aby Warburg’s Mnemosyne Atlas (1924-29), they explore the desire to see all at once in (2024). Here they trace links between time, style and referencing via paintings and prints. They draw on music production (sampling, remixing, arranging, mastering) to structure relationships between images, and explore the shifting landscape of media that the artist feels compelled to consume, express and evaluate. Weiss is concerned with different modes of image-making and value-attaching, and how these allow us to see the world and its media afresh.

They have recently developed a new sequence of images titled <Treasure Hunt! / Tag-Team!> in collaboration with artist Anton Geryon for their show Dub Ft. (2025). This project was the starting point for Weiss’s current research desires – looking into how to treat images as gems or treasures amongst a world of fast paced over saturation. With these developed ideas in mind, Weiss is working on further collaborations with Irish Artist Aaron Smyth and Professor Clare Lees of the University of London. Weiss is also developing solo project Maude Demo_Anime Remastered to be exhibited at Strange Field in 2026.
